MEET OUR TEAM.
MINT, Reservation Manager

Today we introduce you to Mint, our Reservation Manager, a brilliant and fun mind behind the perfect organization that makes every trip possible. From Korat, in the heart of Isaan, Mint combines her passion for detail with the calm and good humor that characterize the Thai spirit. Always ready to turn any unexpected event into a smile, she tells us what it's like to manage day-to-day reservations, negotiate with hotels, and maintain harmony even on the most chaotic days.

Define yourself in 3 words

Funny, Chaos, Coordinator!

Where are you from?

I'm from Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima) a fantastic city about a 3.5-hour drive from Bangkok. That distance is just enough for us to have great fresh air, but close enough for me to keep up with all the iconic landmarks!

Why is your region famous for?

The Isaan (Northeast) region is famous for its unique culture, incredible food, and genuinely distinct people! We offer a different kind of Thai flavour...often spicier in the kitchen and always genuine in our friendships.

Mint Reservation Manager Asian Spirit - Entrevista

What is your position at Asian Spirit and what are your tasks?

I am the Reservations Manager, which means I am the Chief Architect of Perfect Bookings!

If a reservation mix-up caused a temporary disaster, and you had to rely on a traditional Thai skill to fix it, what would you choose?

First, I would take a moment to inhale and exhale to summon my internal calm. Then I'd say, “Jai Yen Yen” (take it easy/cool heart) and visualize the perfect solution! That moment of calm is key, because in Thailand, a smooth resolution always starts with a cool head.

What's the one part of your job that you wish everyone understood was not simple?

Getting into a friendly fight with hotels when they declare "Fully Booked" or "Stop Sales," even though we know there is no allotment!

It takes a masterclass in diplomatic persuasion to win back those rooms. We spend a lot of time on calls, using soft words and kind negotiations to turn a 'No' into a 'Yes.' It can be crazy-making, but that quiet victory is what ensures your trip happens!

What's the funniest (or most confusing) thing you've heard your foreign colleagues say in Thai?

It’s always when they try to say "Gai" (Chicken) and confuse it with "Khai" (Egg)! The slight change in tone is everything. We often have a laugh ordering food for each other using the wrong word. It's a fun reminder that Thai is tricky!

If you could introduce every tourist to just one street food dish in Thailand, what would it be, and why?

Khanom Krok(Thai coconut pancakes). Because it perfectly represents the best of Thai flavours: sweet, creamy, and a little bit salty.......all in one warm, custardy bite.

What's one aspect of Thai culture that you feel foreigners completely misunderstand, and what's the simple, correct explanation?

The misunderstanding: That the Thai smile always means "happy" or "agreeable." The simple, correct explanation: The Thai smile is a complex, all-purpose social tool. It can mean "Hello," "Thank you," "I'm sorry," or "I have no idea what you just said, but I'm being polite."not always a sign of deep joy!

You're given a free weekend getaway anywhere in Thailand, but you have to take your most difficult allotment Google sheet with you. Where do you go, and how do you achieve maximum relaxation anyway?

I'm going straight to Chiang Mai. I need the green space, the mountains, and the cool air and still have Cafe and wifi to calm my mind and give me space to think. I can tackle any difficult sheet once I have that atmosphere,,, sit under the trees and let the calm nature "delete" my stressful spreadsheets.

What's a song or artist that is super popular right now in Thailand that you think our international clients should know about?

I would recommend the country-pop singer,  Jintara Poonlarp. She’s a legend! Her songs are high-energy, fun, and truly capture the lively spirit of the Thai countryside and Isaan culture. Great to dance to!

If you weren't working in tours and reservations, what completely different job would you want to try, just for a day?

I'd love to try being a therapist! I enjoy listening to people and giving advice. I want to try being in a calm setting where I can help people process and feel completely at peace for an hour. but just for 1 day enough hahaha

In your opinion, which Thai island or city is the most overrated, and which is the most underrated hidden gem?

I'll focus on the underrated gem: the Isaan zone > Korat, Khonkaen, Nakhon Phanom, Ubon Ratchathani! Because it's so different. It offers a truly authentic cultural stay, the food is incredible (and famously spicy), the people are warm, away from the tourist hubs. It’s like stepping into a different country within Thailand!

What's the most useless talent you possess?

My most useless talent is that I can fall asleep within 3 minutes, anywhere.

If you could give a 'Sanuk Award' (fun award) to another department for consistently keeping spirits high, which department would it be, and why do they deserve it?

The Sanuk Award goes to the Group Department! When They have the hardest work, but our colleagues are always making jokes and keeping the mood high. They prove you can work hard and still have fun!

Who on the team is the absolute worst at handling spicy Thai food, and who is the bravest?

I think the Worst Ploy and Hunk

The Bravest is definitely Me

To meet Mint is to discover the perfect balance between calm and determination. Her ability to resolve any unexpected situation with a smile and her mastery of the art of Jai Yen Yen reflect the essence of Thai hospitality. From the heart of the reservations department, Mint ensures that every experience flows with precision and harmony—a true key player in the machinery that keeps Asian Spirit's heart beating.
